Introduction
This cookbook is from the late
eighteen hundreds. It contains the exact verbiage. It's a little old fashion in
it's content and thinking but I thought it important to include for the flavor
of the book.
Our Grandparents weren't
interested in counting calories or carbs, they were interested in eating food
that tasted good, it just so happens that when you use fresh ingredients and
take the time, it happens to be healthy by today's standards as well.
There are measurements that are
outdated so I've included a table of measurements.
It also contains no oven
temperatures because most recipes are designed for wood burning stoves so you'll
have to use your judgment. I have found that for the most part a warm oven is
below 250, a medium oven is around 375, and a hot oven is above 425.
So have some fun with these old
gems, include your family in the process. Nothing brings use together like good
food, good smells, and a lot of laughs.
